Riesensaal (Giants’ Hall): chivalrous games …

... like the ones played at Dresden’s Royal Palace are illustrated in the Giants’ Hall. During a
one-hour tour I will explain what ‘to break a lance’ or ‘not to go below the beltline’ mean.
Look at a spectacular show of free-standing wooden tournament horses carrying riders armed with lances
or swords, marvel at ornate polished and etched suits of armour, gilt morions and jewelled rapiers
in an unparalleled visualization of the Saxon rulers’ (and others’) passion for tournaments
and at the same time of their festival culture and show of power practised in past centuries.
