Türckische Cammer: a dream of Arabian Nights …

… will come true if you follow me on a tour of one of the most splendid collections of Ottoman art
world-wide. Step into the shoes of Augustus the Strong, obsessed by Turquerie, as you walk through
the faithfully restored, 20-m-long sultan’s tent or see the purple gleam of his satin caftans
in showcases and gemstone-bedecked riding equipment on faithful models of Arab stallions displayed
in magical lighting next to unique state weapons.

Tip: To find more Oriental traces, walk across the River Elbe and enjoy the grand view
of a stained-glass dome and a chimney disguised as a minaret – both belonging to a former
cigarette factory known as Yenidze – before you reach the Japanisches Palais (Japanese Palace)
for a visit to the Damaskuszimmer (Damascus Room).
