Dresden sightseeing tour: green lungs and a blue bridge

Dresden has more in store than just its Baroque city centre.
See for yourself during a sightseeing tour by coach or car, which takes us to the city’s green lungs,
the Großer Garten (Great Garden), passing by the Hygienemuseum (Hygiene Museum) and Volkswagen’s
Gäserne Manufaktur (transparent factory), and on to the villa districts of Blasewitz, Weißer Hirsch
and Loschwitz. This is where you will see the bridge known as the Blaues Wunder (blue wonder) and come
to understand its name. Shortly after, we will stand in fascination opposit
the three romantic palaces above the River Elbe which are known as Elbschlösser.

A side trip to the Outer New Town and its magnificently restored Wilhelminian buildings,
the eccentric Kunsthofpassagen, the world’s most beautiful dairy – Pfund’s Molkerei – and
the Militärhistorisches Museum (Museum of Military History) redesigned by Daniel Libeskind
shows the city’s great diversity.

On our way back through the Baroque part of the New Town you get to know our famous prince-elector,
Augustus the Strong – regrettably only in the shape of a gilt equestrian statue by Augustusbrücke.
Crossing that bridge we enjoy what is certainly the most beautiful view of the city – the one
made famous by Bellotto.

Tip: This tour can well be extended to include the garden town of Hellerau, or Pillnitz with its palace and gardens.
